Psychological factors that may contribute to mental illness include:
1. Severe psychological trauma suffered as a child, such as emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. Many children, especially the girl child are prone to sexual abuse at a very tender age. The physical, emotional and psychological repercussions is very detrimental to the victim. Sexual abuse can cause health issues and also damage the thinking pattern of victims.
2. An important early loss, such as the loss of a parent. Many children go through fire when they lose their parents. Some are left in the hands of unknown guardians who as a result of their vulnerabilities take advantage and do all sorts of diabolic acts to them.
3. Neglect. Neglect is a friend to isolation and isolation is the gateway to anxieties, curiosities, fears, depressions and all sorts of vulnerabilities. When one is neglected or rejected, it gives room for other vices to grow.
4.Poor ability to relate to others. Naturally, some people find it difficult to relate well with others. How to communicate sometimes becomes a problem. This can create a bad picture to the external environment and bring out negative experiences.
